Since COVID-19 struck, native New Yorker Mobile Health has screened and protected frontline workers inside its city clinics. Recently, however, it stepped outside to help breathe life back into its neighborhood — by giving rapid-result COVID-19 tests to Central Park carriage drivers.
A Mobile Health medical team administered the Accula SARS-CoV-2 Test by Mesa Biotech to about a dozen drivers at the Clinton Park Stable Association stables, according to the NY Daily News. Drivers obtained results from the Point of Care tests in 30 minutes. After Mobile Health cleared drivers for their return to work, crowds of tourists and even a bride-to-be eagerly waited for a carriage ride.
The limited return of the horse-drawn carriages after a seven-month absence marked a step toward the Big Apple’s return to normalcy. As drivers resumed work in the 840-acre park, they offered free rides to healthcare heroes as thanks for their dedication.
Onsite Point of Care Tests
Rapid result Point of Care COVID-19 tests like those given to the carriage drivers are part of the occupational health provider’s comprehensive onsite Covid-19 Screening and Testing program. The program also offers online health assessments, temperature screenings and a data dashboard.
Rapid tests have proven extremely popular with employers, schools and live events. That’s because to be most effective, COVID-19 testing must deliver results FAST. Few employers or school campuses can afford to wait days for lab-test results. The rapid-result tests provide a high degree of accuracy at a cost lower than lab-based tests.
Mobile Health has been administering three types of onsite rapid result COVID-19 tests to schools, businesses, TV production companies, and even wedding guests:
- Point of Care PCR Molecular Testing (Results in 30 minutes)
- Point of Care Antigen Testing (Results in 15 minutes)
- PCR Testing through a certified lab (24 hours from lab sample receipt)
As it did for the Central Park drivers, Mobile Health can quickly mobilize to bring testing to campuses, places of business or live events. Schedule a testing consultation today.
Mobile Health Loves New York
The novel Central Park event marked a departure from Mobile Health’s onsite screenings at the pandemic’s height. With New York as the epicenter, Mobile Health fit-tested upwards of 10,000 healthcare workers for N95 use at city hospitals.
And while carriage drivers aren’t frontline workers, they can certainly be considered essential to the New York experience.
